Waterville, Maine — Waterville Creates!, one of Maine’s leading arts and cultural organizations and a key driver in making the city a vibrant destination in Maine, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the highly-popular Aqua City Actors Theatre (ACAT) to bring a more diverse mix of theatre to downtown Waterville. As part of the arrangement, ACAT will return to its former performance space in Studio 93, a 60-seat theatre located in The Center building at 93 Main Street.

“We are very excited to welcome ACAT back to Studio 93,” says Shannon Haines, president and CEO of Waterville Creates! “The programming that ACAT offers is top-notch and adds yet another dimension to Waterville’s vibrant arts and cultural scene.”

“ACAT is thrilled to return to Studio 93, just before the start of our 19th season in 2017-2018!” says Michael Jinbo, president of ACAT. “Theatre is vital to the growth of a community’s creative economy and having a home venue is essential to the success of groups such as ours. We look forward to presenting a diverse selection of plays in Studio 93 for many seasons to come.”

“I am overjoyed that Waterville Creates! and ACAT are partnering to bring studio theatre productions back to Waterville,” states Uri Lessing, a Waterville Creates! board member involved with both organizations who assisted in bringing the two groups together. “Both organizations bring an energy, dedication and community involvement to Waterville that is important to support a thriving theatre scene representing a diverse mix of genres and performance styles. Many actors, new and experienced, are bringing some wonderful one-act productions to life. The range of short plays, from comedic to the absurd, is outstanding.”

On Friday, May 5, ACAT returns to Studio 93 with “No Reservations: A Program of Comedic One-Acts,” performed by actors from the greater Waterville community. Studio 93 is located on the first floor of The Center building at 93 Main Street in downtown Waterville. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors/students and can be purchased at the door. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made at [email protected].
