What’s happening for March First Friday?

Join us in celebration of our Youth Art Month (YAM) exhibition on March 3 from 4 – 7pm. This year marks our 9th annual YAM exhibition, and we’re thrilled to be able to expand this program by partnering with Colby’s Greene Block + Studios. Student work will be displayed at both Ticonic Gallery + Greene Block + Studios. This year’s theme is Your Art, Your Story.

  • 4-7pm In conjunction with March First Friday, create your own movable self-portrait puppet with stamps, collage, and more! This project ties into Take the World in Your Arms, the Ashley Bryan/Paula Wilson exhibit at the Colby’s Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery, and Your Art Your Voice, the Youth Art Month exhibit at Ticonic Gallery + Studios.
  • 4-5:30pm Mobile Exhibits with Children’s Discovery Museum
  • 4:30-6:30pm Green Screen Family Photos
  • 5 pm Take the World in Your Arms Exhibition Opening Remarks from Colby College Museum of Art staff and special guests
  • 5:30pm Choral Performance by Waterville Senior High School students, led by Ciara Hargrove, Waterville Schools Choral Director.
  • 6:30pm Choral Performance by Waterville Senior High School students, led by Ciara Hargrove, Waterville Schools Choral Director at the Greene Block + Studios. (18 Main St)
  • 4-7pm Children’s Book Giveaway from Colby College Museum of Art: Children ages 12 and younger will receive a children’s picture book by award-winning author and illustrator Ashley Bryan. A variety of titles will be available.
