First Friday

First Fridays celebrate the vibrant creativity in Waterville through a wide array of arts experiences. On the first Friday of every month, visit Main Street in downtown Waterville to meet artists, see performances, listen to live music, eat delicious food, shop at local businesses, enjoy the arts, and come together as a community.

Participants

9am-7pm The Robin’s Nest, 173 Main St., will offer 25% off loose cut flowers every First Friday during regular business hours and one free carnation for the first youth artists in March! In store only.

3-6pm Baking With Danielle Open House for families! Tour the shop, ask questions, and pick up Danielle’s March Baking Schedules.

9am-5pm Living Light Real Estate, is offering 20% their property’s nightly rate for those who book during First Fridays! (minimum stay of 2 nights, Friday and Saturday, discount before taxes and fees)

10am-7pm The Framemakers, 46 Main St., is open for extended hours.

11am-10pm Portland Pie Waterville, 173 Main St., will have a featured special on First Fridays.

4-7pm Open studio with landscape painter Matthew Russ, 50 Main St., second floor. View recent paintings that celebrate Maine’s natural beauty. Learn about Matt’s practice of painting outdoors in state parks and other protected areas, and see some of the tools of his trade!

4-7pm Wild Clover Cafe + Market, 16 Silver St., will offer delicious desserts and fancy tea.

4-9pm Front + Main, 9 Main St., will have a First Friday Featured Cocktail – something new and off menu! 4-9pm.

4:30-9:30pm Amici’s Cucina, 137 Main St., will have a select $8 appetizer every First Friday!

12-6pm Hinge Collaborative, 5 Silver St., will offer hands-on printmaking activities special events. Open regulars hours from 12- 7pm on First Friday. Visit @hingecollaborative for more information.

5-7pm Main Street Provisions, 62 Main St., wine tasting. They will be opening two new wines just introduced to the shop, both from California.  One is a rose and the other a cab sauvignon.  We will be providing tasting samples from 5-7.

6-8pm Incense + Peppermints, 48 Main St., is open until 8pm and will offer 10% off purchases.

Paul J. Schupf Art Center, 93 Main Street:

3–7pm Opening Reception for Youth Art Month (grades K–5)
Enjoy food, juice boxes, swag bags for youth artists, and more!
Ticonic Gallery is delighted to partner with Greene Block + Studios (located at 18 Main Street) to celebrate Youth Art Month with a spectacular, multi-site exhibition of artwork by local students in grades K–12. Featuring works in a variety of media, including painting, digital art, pottery, photography, and more. Youth Art Month is an opportunity for students to showcase their work in a gallery setting and share their achievements with their families and their community.
Suggested hours for grades K–3, 3–5:30pm; suggested hours for grades 4–5, 5:30–7pm. 

3–6pm Mobile Museum exhibits from Children’s Discovery Museum
Try out hands-on play for younger children.

5:30-6:30pm Family Friendly Tours
Join Colby College Museum of Art Gallery Educators for 20-minute family-friendly tour experiences. Tours start at 5:30 pm, 6:00 pm, and 6:30 pm.

Greene Block + Studios, 18 Main St:

3–7pm Opening Reception or Youth Art Month (grades 6–12)
Enjoy food, swag bags for youth artists, and more!
In tandem with the reception at Ticonic Gallery (located at 93 Main Street), Greene Block + Studios will celebrate Youth Art Month with artwork by local students in grades K–12.

3–7pm Open Studios at the Lunder Institute at Greene Block
Meet current Lunder Institute for American Art fellows at the Greene Block + Studios, including artists working in painting, sculpture, performance, and mixed media! The Lunder Institute’s Open Studios offers an opportunity for community members to speak to these makers about their practices and see their works-in-progress.

2pm-7pm The Maine Film Center will offer a 50 % discount on concessions (beer and wine excluded).
