Waterville, Maine — Waterville Creates!, one of Maine’s leading arts and cultural organizations and a key driver in making the city a vibrant arts destination in Central Maine, has promoted Nate Towne to the position of marketing director as of October 1, 2018. As marketing director, Nate will guide and manage the marketing efforts of Waterville Creates!  together with its arts-based partner organizations while promoting the greater Waterville region as a vibrant cultural destination in Central Maine.

Nate has managed the Waterville Creates! marketing program since joining the organization in April 2016 as marketing manager.  Nate works closely with the Waterville Creates! team and its collaborative partners to help raise the profile of arts and community-based programming in the greater Waterville area through advertising, social media, websites, event calendars, word of mouth, direct mail, marketing collateral, experiential events, and collaborative marketing partnerships. He has worked with the Waterville Opera House and the Maine Film Center to plan, schedule and execute marketing programs that have resulted in increased ticket sales and raised brand awareness. Nate also coordinates the marketing efforts for the newly launched Downtown Arts Center community capital campaign http://www.downtownartscenter.org.

Prior to joining Waterville Creates!, Nate worked at a number of the nation’s leading advertising and public relations agencies, was a syndicated journalist covering news and entertainment, and ran his own public relations firm. Nate holds a BS in Mass Communications from Boston University and earned his master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Emerson College. He is the co-owner of Christopher Hastings Confections, is the chair of the Kennebec Valley Tourism Council, and the communications chair for the Rotary Club of Waterville.
