Art Break: The Residual by Julie Mehretu

Each Thursday, join us to spend time with a work of art on view in the Colby Museum galleries. This week, we will focus on The Residual by Julie Mehretu, located in the Davis Gallery. This is the opening day for the exhibition, A Poetics of Atmosphere: Lorna Simpson’s Cloudscape and Other Works from the Collection, which includes this work.

Talking as a group about works of art can offer us new ways to see the world, pose difficult questions, get us in touch with our emotions, challenge us with new ideas, and sometimes delight us with beauty. These looking experiences will be facilitated by museum staff, interns, docents, and special guests.
