We believe that celebrating Pride month is more important than ever. We have collaborated with our community partners to offer an entire month of celebration to honor LGBTQIA+ experiences and history. We hope this page inspires you to join us in connecting with our community through dance, film, literature, poetry, art making, and so much more.
2024 Pride Events
All events occur in Waterville unless otherwise noted.
June 1
9am–1pm Queer Youth Summit
This is a family friendly event at the Alfond Youth + Community Center, will be filled with refreshments, activities, workshops, and a keynote speaker!
12–4pm Hallowell Pride Celebration at Granite City Park.
The parade will begin at 2pm and go from 222 Water Street to 52 Water Street.
June 2
Time TBD Central Maine Pride at Head of Falls
Come explore all things Pride at Head of Falls in Waterville. Art, queer organizations, and more!
June 7
5–7pm First Friday
Art making, artists, queer organizations, cookies, and more! OUT Maine will be attending. Opening of the Light Sentinels in Castonguay Square! Greene Block + Studios dance party to begin at 7pm
June 20
Art in the Park 3–5pm
Student led, rainbow themed art making at this free drop-in making in Castonguay Square in Waterville! OUT Maine will be attending with flags, buttons, and more.

All films start at 3pm unless otherwise noted. Regular admission price $12.

Break the Game, NR
Documentary about world-record setting Twitch streamer Narcissa Wright who lost her entire fanbase when she came out as trans in 2015 and her efforts to win them back by setting a new speedrun record in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
June 15
Queer Futures, NR
The QUEER FUTURES series centers joy and connection to radically imagine future visions of queer life. Four short films explore gender affirming healthcare, fat beauty and liberation, nonbinary ballroom culture, and the anonymous connections of a decades-old LGBTQ hotline. We’re still in the process of booking, but it sounds really interesting! On a camping trip to the northern California woods, 14-year-old Jamie develops a crush on his cousin’s boyfriend Dan and begins to question his sexuality while dealing with his homophobic older brother Will.

The Birdcage, R
The American remake of La Cage aux Folles, openly gay drag club owner Armand Goldman (Robin Williams) and his lover/star performer Albert (Nathan Lane) reluctantly agree to pose as straight in an attempt to deceive their future in-laws: the very conservative Senator Kevin Keeley (Gene Hackman) and his wife Louise (Dianne Wiest).

The Persian Version, R
The youngest of nine siblings and the only daughter in the family, openly queer filmmaker Leila couldn’t be further alienated from her family of Iranian immigrants. That is, until she gets pregnant from a one-night-stand after divorcing her wife and must find a way to break the news to her imposing mother while the entire family has gathered in New York City for her father’s heart transplant.
