Wild Horse Nine
Greetings from Easter Island!
Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA agents Chris (Oscar-nominee John Malkovich) and Lee (Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell), who have a history of meddling in global events, are dispatched from Santiago to Easter island by their bureau chief, MJ (Emmy-winner Steve Buscemi). Amongst the Island's iconic statues, and as the longtime partners wrestle with their dark pasts and present conspiracies, Chris's newfound bond with a pair of rebellious students (Mariana di Girolamo and AilÃn Salas) who actively support the Chilean president's regime threatens to send everyone’s trip to this remote paradise sideways.
From Oscar-winning writer/director Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) comes, perhaps, "his best yet: a bittersweet hangout film about lonely, crumpled men facing up to mortality, dealing with the consequences of violence and chewing the fat to outlandishly funny effect."—Phil de Semlyen, Time Out.
