Veteran piano technician Harry (Oscar-winner Dustin Hoffman) and his shy apprentice Niki (Leo Woodall) are quite the duo—Harry is slowly losing his hearing, while Niki's auditory condition called hyperacusis requires him to wear earplugs at all times. Despite this, the two are the best piano tuners in town, and Niki's personal life takes a turn for the better when he meets a music composition student named Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu). But when Niki's meticulous skills lead him to discover an unexpected aptitude for cracking safes, their lives are all upended.
