Newly widowed Santosh inherits her husband's job as a police constable in the rural badlands of Northern India. When a girl's body is found, she's pulled into the investigation under the wing of charismatic feminist inspector Sharma. This tough and gritty police procedural shows the constrained and brutal pursuit of justice in a society in which men and women are valued differently and there exists a caste system that has “two types of untouchables. Those that no one wants to touch and those that can’t be touched.”
