Pine Grove Cemetery Walk (Part of Where We Are Now: Maps and Doorways Installation at Greene Block)

Friday, November 11

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Colby Arts Office

Pine Grove Cemetery, 61 Grove Street, Waterville

Join Where We Are Now: Maps and Doorways artist Maggie Libby at Pine Grove Cemetery for a walking discussion about the history of important women in Waterville, including Colby’s earliest female graduate, Mary Low (Carver) 1875,  and members of Waterville’s earliest black families, the Samuel Osborne family.  Daughter Marion Osborne (Matheson) 1900, is Colby’s first black female graduate. For those interested, we will provide materials to take grave rubbings and later add to the developing installation at Greene Block + Studios.

At 3 pm, we will meet at the cemetery’s main driveway off Grove Street (first driveway between St. Francis Cemetery and Pine Grove sections,  just past Uncle Dean’s) and begin our walk at the Osborne Family plot.
