Ever since he was a boy, historian Benjamin Franklin Gates (Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage) has been obsessed with finding the legendary Knights Templar Treasure, the greatest fortune known to man. As Gates tries to find and decipher ancient riddles that will lead him to it, he's dogged by a ruthless enemy (BAFTA-winner Sean Bean) who wants the riches for himself. Now in a race against time, Gates and his team, archivist Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) and computer expert Riley Poole (Justin Bartha), must steal one of America's most sacred and guarded documents—the Declaration of Independence—or let it, and a key clue to the mystery, fall into dangerous hands.

While the plot is certainly over-the-top and some of the solutions Gates procures are improbable at best, these moments only add to the zany, fast-paced, and very entertaining film that is National Treasure! "It’s super cheesy, with some hammy [Nicolas Cage] acting, a cartoon-like villain in Bean, some bad puns, and an unbelievable, conspiracy-driven plot. Despite, and partly because of all of the above, it’s a fun, crowd-pleaser of a flick...Cage is the glue that holds it all together, with a determined obsession in everything he does here."—Jason Delgado, Film Threat.
