Whether he's attempting to add the letter "x" to company names, gutting federal institutions, or bringing a chainsaw to the Conservative Political Action Conference, we've all seen and heard about the antics of Elon Musk—but there's a good chance you don't even know the half of it. Musk, directed by Oscar-winner Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room), is an incisive and thoroughly unvarnished look behind the legend of Elon Musk, the world’s most heralded—and unchecked—“inventor-entrepreneur” tech mogul who serves as the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter (now called X, of course) and has enormous influence on the world in which we all live.

Featuring interviews from a litany of those who have known Elon—including former colleagues like Martin Eberhard (the actual founder of Tesla), former wives, and his own father—as well as a digital avatar of Elon to give a face to public recordings of the trillionaire who declined to be interviewed, Gibney's Musk is as concerning as it is long. "It’s a gripping work, in part because it’s so long: The length allows Gibney to give the story a nice, dramatic sweep instead of rushing through a selection of headlines, which is usually the kiss of death for political documentaries...Simply as a character study, though, Musk is fascinating. As a tale of modern business, it’s revealing. And as a warning about our future, it’s terrifying."—Bilge Ebiri, Vulture.
