Waterville Creates

Castonguay Square, corner of Main + Common Streets, Waterville

What is a crankie? Join artist and illustrator Lucky Platt for a free hands-on program making a large communal crankie- a unique moving panorama storytelling tool! Originating in the early 1800’s, the crankie involves two handled spools that can be ‘cranked’ to bring movement to an illustrated scroll.

This creation will be in honor of the Maine International Film Festival and this year’s space theme! Over the three-hour drop-in period, Platt will create a long painted scroll with anyone who wants to participate. All ages and abilities are welcome.

In the event of rain, we will be inside the Paul J Schupf Art Center.
