Intro to Modern Tapestry Weaving

Saturday, January 24 at 11am–2pm

Ticonic Gallery + Studios

Studio 1902, Paul J. Schupf Art Center, 93 Main Street, Waterville

Tapestry is easy to learn, endlessly creative, and very relaxing! In this workshop, visiting artist Bobbie Tilkens-Fisher shows students the essentials of tapestry weaving:

• loom basics
• fiber selection
• weaving tools
• warping a loom
• stitches and knots
• shapes and space
• removing a weaving from the loom
• various finishing techniques

Registration includes a 10-inch loom and everything you need to complete your tapestry (all yours to keep)! Participants are welcome to bring your own favorite yarns—bulky yarns (weight 5 or above) are best for beginners. Expect to learn the basics, make a wall hanging, and have fun! A part of Community Maker Days.
