Join us for a free screening of Hairy Who + The Chicago Imagists, a stunning documentary about a ragtag group of young artists coming onto the Chicago scene in the mid-1960s that highlights the career of Gladys Nilsson, an artist on view at the Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery of Art (right below the theater). Join us before the film from 6–7pm to see the exhibition, hear a few words from Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Kendall DeBoer, and enjoy pizza.

This screening is inspired by the exhibition Alive & Kicking: Fantastic Installations by Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt, Catalina Schliebener Muñoz, and Gladys Nilsson, which is on view June 26, 2024 through November 11, 2024, at Joan Dignam Schmaltz Gallery of Art at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center, downtown Waterville.

Frame by Frame is a collaborative program of the Colby College Museum of Art and the Maine Film Center. Film screenings are paired with speakers or programs that connect what we see on the big screen to what happens in the museum.
