Spike Lee's GIRL 6 stars Theresa Randle as a struggling young actress dealing with the daily misogyny of the industry. Spike, always the provocateur, features Quentin Tarantino playing a version of himself as the chauvinistic male auteur who asks our protagonist to take off her top at an audition. Girl 6, who, during the course of the film, is never named, finds work as a phone sex worker. Spike Lee's character study, which was written by playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (Topdog, Underdog), has been both labeled feminist and anti-feminist, but it nevertheless lives up to Lee's vivid style.
