DIY Furoshiki Gift Wrapping with Kim Bernard
Part of
Community Maker Days
Not only is Furoshiki a beautiful way to present a gift, recycle fabric, and learn basic sewing techniques, it's an eco-friendly alternative to single use wrapping paper. Participants will hand- and machine-sew to make their own unique fabric wraps, then practice different tying techniques to create a wrap that gets passed from gifter to giftee. All fabric and supplies will be included. Participants are also welcome to bring their own fabric to work with.
Kim Bernard creates sculpture that is recycled, kinetic, interactive, public, and involves the community. She creates installations upcycled out of trash and is currently focusing on transforming plastic waste into sculpture using her portable recycling machines. She shows her work nationally in galleries and museums and creates commissions for public spaces.
