You are who you are. The only trick is not getting caught!

What do vegetarianism, listening to Melissa Etheridge, and preferring to watch the other cheerleaders perform over kissing your boyfriend Jared have in common? For star cheerleader Megan (Natasha Lyonne), they are the reasons why her parents suspect she is a lesbian. Hoping to intervene and make their daughter "normal" again, Megan's parents send her to True Directions, a conversion therapy program that guarantees a return to heterosexuality through a five-step process. Megan and fellow camper Graham (Clea DuVall) slowly develop feelings for each other, but program director Mary (Cathy Moriarty) and her assistant Mike (RuPaul) are determined to straighten them out—pun intended. "But I'm a Cheerleader is funny, but it's not only funny. Though colorful and campy, the picture manages to make a heartfelt statement about the difficulties of growing up gay."—Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle.
