Jeff Mao will explore the essential traditions of Lunar New Year and the role food plays in bringing friends and family together. The talk concludes with a tasting featuring traditional "yuanbao" (ingot) shaped dumplings and other seasonal
delicacies.
Jeff Mao is the author of the
Essential Chinese Hot Pot Cookbook and the founder of Knead & Nosh, a Maine-based microbakery. A career educator with a passion for the science of food, Jeff was recognized as an award-winning baker when his bagels earned the "Best Bagel" title at the 2025 Maine Bagel Bake-Off. His work often explores the intersection of culinary heritage and technique.
