Live From the Guggenheim: Celebrating Alex Katz and Artist Collaborations

Join us for an exclusive livestream screening of the program, That Various Field: Alex Katz's Creative Communities and the Field of Interdisciplinary Collaboration, which delves into Alex Katz’s engagement in theater, dance, and poetry, currently on view in two exhibitions—Alex Katz: Theater and Dance, at the Colby College Museum of Art, and Alex Katz: Gathering, a retrospective on view at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. This screening event will include a short film about Uncommon Accord, a collaborative performance and program with the Portland Ballet and Colby College Department of Performance, Theater, and Dance. This film features Colby student dancers performing original choreography inspired by works in Alex Katz: Theater and Dance.

Complementary refreshments for all attendees are available at the Maine Film Center's concession stand.

3:00 - 4:15pm, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum presents a panel discussion about Alex Katz's work and its relationship to poetry and poets

4:15 - 4:30pm: Break

4:30 - 5:45pm, the Colby College Museum of Art presents a panel discussion about Alex Katz's work and its relationship to theater and dance. Levi Prombaum, Katz Consulting Curator, will be in conversation with Sarah Crowner, Kevin Lotery, and Shantell Martin.

5:45pm: Screening of the film about the Portland Ballet and Colby College Department of Performance, Theater, and Dance program.
