Act of Sight: The Tsiaras Family Photography Collection will showcase more than 150 works by 100 photographers, revealing the breadth and depth of the Tsiaras Family Photography Collection, a remarkable gift of more than 500 photographs amassed by Dr. William ’68 and Nancy Meyer Tsiaras ’68.
Photos ranging from Modernist works to Depression-era Farm Security Administration documentary images to cityscapes and changing rural and agricultural landscapes spanning from the 1880s to the present will be on display. Notable photographers featured include Ansel Adams, Berenice Abbott, Dorothea Lange, Henry Callahan, Aaron Siskind, Gordon Parks, Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz, Lucas Samaras and Helen Levitt. The installation will emphasize the connections between images, examining formal, conceptual and thematic relationships across photography’s many histories.
