As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States, A Great Awakening looks back at the unlikely friendship between Benjamin Franklin and the Reverend George Whitefield that resulted in one of the most defining moments in American history. With the colonies on the brink of collapse, Whitefield sparks the first Great Awakening, uniting an entire generation with his thundering sermons and proclamations of liberty. Despite their many differences, Franklin becomes one of Whitefield’s closest friends and greatest promoters. With the nation’s freedom hanging in the balance, Franklin discovers true liberty cannot only be written into law—it must also be awakened in the hearts of the people.
