After 14 years away from the romantic comedy movie genre of which she was the queen, Meg Ryan returns, but DIRECTING as well as CO-STARRING in the truly funny, but truly heartfelt What Happens Later. Ryan plays massage therapist Willa, who gets snowed in at a regional airport overnight….as does, by seeming coincidence, her ex, corporate world exec Bill (a terrific David Duchovny.) Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier. But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted. Magic is afoot, even if nothing else is….or so it might seem as the airport itself shuts down–except for the two of them….
