american babel is a model of our divided country using the plain paper shopping bag as a substitute for the everyday consuming american. each bag, almost identical, is cut with one of two lenses: circles or squares – us versus them. some have views wider than others, still, however, they are tenuously perched together, looking out, but never looking in.
