(Some More of) THE BEST OF WES (so far)

A smattering of Wes Anderson films before the opening of Asteroid City on June 22.

At Rushmore Academy, tenth grader Max Fischer (played by Jason Schwartzman) is an obsessive bespectacled weirdo who has joined almost every single after-school club, but can't keep his grades up past a C. When he develops a crush on a first-grade teacher at the school, Miss Cross (Olivia Williams), and befriends a school benefactor, Mr. Blume (Bill Murray), Max starts to discover what it means to be an adult in love. Take this 1999 Washington Post review: "If Anderson and [co-writer Owen] Wilson continue working together, they stand to carve themselves a special corner of their own, as the Coen brothers have. More power to them and movies like this – the ones you just can't pigeonhole."
