In 1984 Wales, gay activist Mark Ashton leads a movement to support striking coal miners after he realizes that the police are harassing the miners like they harass the gay community. Calling the movement "Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners"—LGSM for short—Mark decides that the small mining village of Onllwyn is the ideal place to begin fighting for change. While many miners and people from the local community begin to warm to LGSM, Mark and his allies find themselves facing resistance from members of the Women's Support group in Onllwyn and The National Union of Miners.

Featuring a star studded cast including George MacKay, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Andrew Scott, Pride (2014) is "a joyous film, full of love and warmth but unafraid to admit that with sticking out your neck comes struggle and sorrow. Truly lovely."—Dave Calhoun, Time Out London.
