The last film that Guillermo del Toro (PAN’S LABYRINTH) directed was the utterly amazing THE SHAPE OF WATER, which brought him 2017 Oscar wins for Best Picture and Best Director. Now the long wait is over: he’s back with NIGHTMARE ALLEY, based on a 1946 novel that was made into a film noir classic at the time. But del Toro is bidding for something even more with this unforgettable thriller, graced by a remarkable cast including Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Colette, Willem Dafoe and Rooney Mara. In NIGHTMARE ALLEY, Stan Carlisle, an ambitious carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words, hooks up with Dr. Lilith Ritter, a shrink who is even more dangerous than he is.
