One Show Only: Feb. 2 (Groundhog Day!)
Who would have imagined that the sweetest, funniest, most quotidian parable about enlightenment imaginable would come from a '90s commercial Hollywood movie starring master cynic Bill Murray, "a hilarious and unexpectedly profound comedy" (Scott Tobias, AV Club)? Well…the director/co-screenwriter of GROUNDHOG DAY’s Harold Ramis, and screenwriter Danny Rubin. And now, those viewers who return to it again and again, as if they were living in GROUNDHOG DAY themselves. Teamed with a relentlessly cheerful producer (Andie MacDowell) and a smart-aleck cameraman (Chris Elliott), TV weatherman Phil Connors (Murray) is sent to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities, an assignment he's not exactly thrilled about. But on his way out of town, Phil is caught in a giant blizzard, which he failed to predict, and finds himself stuck in small-town hell. Just when things couldn't get worse, they get worse; Phil wakes the next morning to find it's Groundhog Day all over again...and again...and again."
