In 2017, Jacinda Ardern became the 40th Prime Minister of New Zealand and the youngest female head of government in the world at just 37 years old. Ardern's five year tenure was a time of many crises, from the Christchurch Mosque shootings to COVID-19. Coupled with giving birth to her first child in office while unmarried, a major controversy in New Zealand, Ardern faced heavy vitriol and criticism during her career. An intimate and backstage examination of Ardern during her time in office, Prime Minister weaves public footage from her term with private moments filmed by her partner Clarke Gayford to present a uniquely personal look at the revolutionary PM and her empathetic and inclusive approach to conflict that redefined the meaning of global leadership.

Prime Minister offers "an eye-opening insider perspective that comes as a reminder of what conviction politics looks like when it is maintained even under extreme pressure, as well as being a celebration of feminism, Prime Minister holds appeal for audiences well beyond New Zealand’s shores."—Amber Wilkinson, Screen Daily.
