Q&A with local trans activists and Colby students. Porpora is a road trip across Italy and through the life of Porpora Marcasciano, a leading figure of the Italian trans movement. While traversing the Italian peninsula from the north to the south, Porpora and her traveling companion, Vittorio, retrace the key moments and places of her life: her involvement in the 1977 protest movement, her experience as sex worker, and her political engagement. This is a story about questioning monolithic identities and exploring other possible paths; yet it is also the (surprisingly funny) story of two traveling companions who try to understand each other and the world surrounding them.

In Italian with English subtitles.

Free admission, sponsored by the Colby Department of French & Italian Studies.
