Using traditional yarn, and not so traditional 3D printers, students create inventive and artistic holiday ornaments.

Matt Tavares Introducing Dasher

Dasher: How A Brace Little Doe Changed Christmas Forever is a brand new book from Matt Tavares. Available in November, it is destined to become a Christmas classic! Come meet Dasher. Matt will read the story and draw for us, too. Books will be available and Matt will be signing them.

after school art club: fall sculptures

Fall has plenty of dead leaves, branches, and grasses that can be collected to form unique sculptures. With ribbons and wreath forms in hand, students will search outside for natural materials to add to these autumnal sculptures!

after school art club: cardboard challenge (make a model home!)

What kind of model house or room can you make from cardboard? Using cardboard combined with plenty of tape and imagination, participants will design a unique house of their own invention. Adults will be on hand to help cut out designs!

slice: movie making

television and film is a huge industry and there are many opportunities available beyond acting or directing. in this week of slice, students will workshop with professionals in mass media communications and film and video production to find out more about the diverse jobs in the film industry while exploring grip, lighting, camera rigs, and more!

slice (students learning innovative creative endeavors) is a pilot provides young adults with unique experiences to learn more about career paths in the creative arts. students ages 13-19 explore the behind-the-scenes operations at a historic opera house, an award-winning public library, a vibrant community art studio and education space, a nationally recognized art museum, a local music center, and an independent arthouse cinema. partnering with arts professionals throughout the city, each afternoon will be filled with interesting programming, inspiration, and pizza.

after school art club: printed bubble wands

Using the 3d printers, participants invent their own 3d print bubble wands.  Once created, students will blow bubbles outside.

slice: stranger no more: photos + letters to my community

the connections we have to our community builds friendships, supports businesses, and creates opportunities in our professional lives. during this interactive afternoon inspired by i am not a stranger: portraits by séan alonzo harris exhibition, which includes fifty five new studio photographs of waterville residents, teens will get to know each other through a photography exercise. afterwards, students will craft letters to community members they admire.

Home School Hub for October!

Homeschoolers are invited to meet at the Waterville Public Library every Thursday from 1:30-2:30pm for games, crafts, speakers, and more! There is an activity in the Children’s department for attendees in 1st-6th grade, and an activity in the Bartlett Room for Teens for attendees in 6th-12th grade. The activity changes every week.
