Rhymetime: for Babies, Toddlers and Their Grownups!

Babies are born ready to learn! By singing, clapping, and sharing stories with their grownups, children from birth to age 3 gain valuable skills and knowledge for later learning success. Join us for a half-hour of active fun in the Children’s department on Friday,10:30-11am at the Waterville Public Library!

This program is free, and open to the public.

art in the park: felted finger puppets

Finger puppets are fun to tell stories or to honor your favorite character in a book, movie or play! Come create these simple little puppets to bring home.

This program will be cancelled if there is inclement weather.

Art in the Park, a program of Common Street Arts is designed to foster creativity and community among residents and visitors to Waterville. Art in the Park is a free, weekly program that takes place each Thursday at River walk at Head of Falls during the Farmers’ Market. Art in the Park partners with area teaching artists to develop unique arts programming — providing accessible workshops and special family-friendly activities for community members to engage in creative practices that relate to ongoing exhibitions at Common Street Arts, as well as related programs at the Maine Film Center, Colby Museum of Art, Waterville Public Library, and Waterville Opera House. August Crafternoons at the Waterville Public Library!

Looking for a way to brighten up your child’s day? Bring them on down to the Waterville Public Library for Crafternoons! Drop in anytime between 2:30 and 4PM every Tuesday to participate in a fun craft. We do something different every week!

August 6: Watermelon Fan
August 13: Lion Paper Bag Puppet
August 20: Mushroom Friends
August 27: I Love Hedgehogs

Children under 7 must be accompanied by a grown-up helper.

Teen Game Night!

Stop by the Waterville Public Library on Mondays at 4pm for Teen Game Night!

Featuring video games, board games, and sometimes D&D, it’s always a new adventure!

The library has a collection of board games to choose from, which includes Settlers of Catan, Exploding Kittens, Munchkin, and many more! There are also games available to play on the library’s Wii U, Wii and PS3.  Attendees are welcome to bring along any age-appropriate games they’d like to share. Bring yourself, bring your friends, and discover new games!

art in the park: textured clay tiles

Create an air-dried clay tile using different textures and shapes from nature and employing 3D printed stamps. Each tile can be taken home and decorated with your favorite coloring device!

Reader Dogs @ the Library

Come Read to the Read Dogs!

Our therapy dog friends from Kennebec Valley Love on a Leash will be in this afternoon for read-aloud time! Great for kids who want to practice their reading skills and for families who want a fun, calming read-aloud opportunity. Spend 15 minutes with a dog who loves to listen! Bring your own favorite book, or borrow one from our shelves.
