intermediate wheel class- 6 week workshop august

Wednesdays 5:30-7:30 p.m. August 21, 28, Sept 4, 11, 18, 25

This six-week pottery class is perfect for the individual with wheel throwing and centering clay experience who would like to further refine their skills. In this class, students will build upon basic pottery skills including building and throwing forms, creating more complex vessels including but not limited to, large bowls, dinner plates, lidded vessels, stacked and altered wheel forms. Bring your ideas and sketches to use as a place of departure.

The class fee includes a 25 pound bag of clay, all glazes needed, and kiln firings during the class period. Each student can access the studio from 6am- 8pm on weekdays and from 9am- 5pm on weekends–except when other scheduled classes are in session.)

Basic pottery/clay experience necessary. Registration required. $175

Mondays: July 22, 29 and August 5,12,19,26

This six-week pottery class will teach students the basics of throwing clay on the wheel. The class will start with clay basics and expand to creating mugs, bowls, plates, and other objects based on student interest. Skills that will be developed include centering, shaping, trimming, handle making, and decoration and glazing. The instructor will work actively with each student as they navigate all the basic aspects of wheel throwing.

Included in the class is a 25 pound bag of clay, all glazes needed, and kiln firings during the class period. Also, each student can come to use the studio outside of class from 6am until 8pm on weekdays and from 9am until 5pm on weekends. ( Occasionally there will be a class using the wheels on specific nights which will be posted on our calendar in the studio space.)

No experience necessary. Registration required. $175

Salad Days! at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts

Saturday July 13th, 2019 from 11am to 3pm

Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts invites you to join us for Salad Days, our 25th annual celebration of local food and handcrafted ceramics! Enjoy a buffet picnic lunch of locally grown and prepared foods and a ceramic plate of your choice to keep. There will be live music, a pottery sale, artist demos, and more! Guest Artist Workshop, Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts

During this day-long workshop with five of Watershed’s dynamic Salad Days Artist alums, you’ll learn new tips, tricks and techniques from Patrick Coughlin, Stuart Gair, Adam Paulek, Kari Radasch, and Adero Willard.

The workshop leaders will share techniques they use in their studio practices and discuss ways their work has evolved since their time as resident artists at Watershed. Each artist will give a one-hour demonstration and talk, showcasing his or her individual methods and philosophies. Workshop participants will have ample time to ask questions and discuss techniques with the artists.

Please note that the workshop will include demonstrations and discussions but not hands-on studio time. Lunch will be provided.
