Production Manager, Waterville Opera House
Full-Time; Exempt Status
Reports to: Executive Director, Waterville Opera House

The Production Manager is responsible for the technical operations of the venue including supervision of technical staff, lighting, sound, set construction, rigging, and coordinating necessary maintenance. The Production Manager oversees all aspects of production and ensures the success and safety of the backstage operations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• Maintain safe, clean, secure workspaces, including a 35 foot proscenium stage, scene shop, paint, electrical, and storage areas. Inventory, purchase, operate, and maintain the venue’s equipment, tools, consumables, and systems. Ensure operational readiness of all technical systems.
• Create production calendars, schedule and attend all production and design meetings as well as auditions and technical rehearsals, manage production budget, purchase show specific materials, prepare materials for auditions and first rehearsal, and manage casting notifications.
• Ensure safety, oversee and assist with light hang/focus, scenery build, rigging and fly console programming, and organize and complete strike.
• Oversee the set up and load in/out of rentals and special events, coordinate with renters and tour managers regarding technical requirements.
• Work with Programming Manager to assist with set up, load in/out logistics related to concert/live music performances.
• Work with external scenic and lighting designers to ensure successful production design within the established budget.
• Performing other duties as assigned across all divisions of Waterville Creates.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least 5 years of related experience in and a working knowledge of the production of performing arts events and at least 3 years of supervisory experience is required.
• Excellent knowledge and experience with lighting, carpentry, rigging, and the associated tools and safety protocols. Ability to read and interpret drafting, such as scenic drawings and light plots.
• Knowledge and experience with the following: ETC Ion, Avid SC48 sound console, Bose MA12 speakers and Control Space, and ETC Prodigy hoist fly system.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Q-lab, Dropbox and the ability to become adept with new software.
• Ability to work on ladders and personal man lifts.
• Strong interpersonal, customer service, and team building skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse audiences, staff and volunteers.
• Comfortable overseeing interns and volunteers.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as required.

Physical Demands/Conditions/Requirements
Lifting (up to 75 pounds) required. Full range of physical mobility including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching and manual dexterity is required.

Salary: $50-55,000, commensurate with experience.
