Festivals

Waterville Creates is pleased to collaborate with our community partners to present and promote accessible, unique, and high-quality arts programming for residents and visitors alike.

Maine International Film Festival

Founded in 1998, the Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) spans 10 days and showcases nearly 100 films, representing the best of American independent and international cinema, and spotlight some of Maine and New England’s most exciting and innovative filmmakers. Audiences also have opportunities to meet and talk with some of the people behind the movies – directors, producers, writers, musicians. Every year we honor members of the independent film industry whose contributions to cinema deserve recognition. Our honored guests and visiting filmmakers host panel discussions as well as informal Q&A sessions, giving the audiences an incredible chance to hear about the art of film from those on the front lines.

Maine Student Film + Video Conference

Inspiring Maine youth through this annual filmmaking conference and festival. Open to filmmakers ages 19 and under in grades K-12, entries are judged on the basis of originality, content, style, and technique. Films are reviewed by the following divisions: pre-teen, (grades K-6), junior (grades 7-8) and senior (grades 9-12). Each year the MSFVF selects award winners and finalists whose films are then screened at the festival’s Public Screening & Awards Presentation, which is held in conjunction with the Maine International Film Festival in Waterville.

Waterville Rocks

Waterville Rocks is a free, family-friendly summer concert series held in downtown Waterville. Established in 2016 by local business leaders and arts-focused organizations, Waterville Rocks has become an annual community celebration of all-things-music held in the great outdoors. Community members are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets and settle in for an evening of great entertainment. Children delight in fun, free artmaking activities coordinated by Waterville Creates.

Past Waterville Rocks acts have included Rustic Overtones, Ryan Montbleau, The Mallett Brothers, The Ghost of Paul Revere, Kat Wright, Enter the Haggis, Kenya Hall, and Adam Ezra Group.
