Public Forum on Arsenic in Well Water

Fri. May 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This forum will bring together a range of regional high school science classes that have been involved in sampling well water for arsenic levels, along with Colby students in Bi198 Biochemistry of Food course, and scientists from MDI Biological Laboratory and College of the Atlantic. There will be posters and short talks from both high school students and Colby students covering a range of topics from trends in the actual SEPA Data to Action dataset collected by high school students in Maine and New Hampshire, to the prevalence of arsenic in drinking water and in various foods, the physiological and toxicological effects on human health, the geographic and population prevalence, economic and historical considerations, and remediation, mitigation, and filtration strategies.
