The Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestras will offer a concert with several popular classics on Sunday, December 1, 2019, 6:30PM, at Cony High School in Augusta (snow date: December 8).
Under the baton of internationally renowned maestro Jinwook Park, the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony will perform Beethoven’s 5th symphony, one of the most beloved pieces of the classical repertoire, and an inspiring and fitting challenge for the advanced young musicians forming the bulk of the symphony orchestra. The younger musicians of the Kennebec Valley Youth Orchestra, under the leadership of award-winning strings teacher Daniel Keller, will perform a Vivaldi concerto for two guitars (arranged for string orchestra), and, together with the Youth Symphony, “Variations on a theme by Haydn” by Johannes Brahms. Also on the program of the senior orchestra are Mozart’s sizzling Overture to the Magic Flute and his fifth violin concerto with soloist Ms. Jean Huang, a recent graduate with honors from New England Conservatory in Boston. Come and experience this entrancing music and the passion of these young musicians, their expert conductors, and their adult mentors.
