As a six-month road reconstruction project gets underway in downtown Hallowell the first week of April, the first of series of events will be held on April 7. The events are designed to continue to engage the public with the city on the Kennebec River throughout the construction process.
On Saturday, April 7, a collaborative mural painting project will be held at Harlow Gallery on 160 Water Street from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The murals, which will be created on canvas, will be placed on construction fencing and displayed from April to October. Participation is free, materials will be provided, and all ages are welcome.
Participants are encouraged to bring sketches and ideas and should expect to work collaboratively in small groups. The event is hosted by Harlow Gallery’s Education Committee and the Hallowell Arts and Cultural Committee. All murals will be auctioned off after construction is completed to support future arts programming in Hallowell.
