Based on the autobiographical 1959 novel by E.R. Braithwaite, To Sir, with Love stars Sidney Poitier as an idealistic Guyanese immigrant and an aspiring engineer who takes a job teaching a rough group of white high school students from London’s East End slums. The film shines a light on race, sex, and class issues during a time of rapid social change. Presented in conjunction with Hew Locke: Here’s The Thing, this film will be introduced by Colby College Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, Arisa White. (NR, 105 minutes.) Start time: 7:15pm.
