Artful Movements

Sat. Dec 5 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

- Free to the public

“Yoga is 99 percent waste removal.” –TKV Desikachar, pioneer of modern yoga as exercise, Tirumalai Krishnamacharya.
Artful Movements provides an opportunity to practice a series of gentle yoga poses inspired by artworks in the galleries. These free sessions begin with a deeper look at an artwork, followed by a series of gentle poses and meditation led by Kathleen Leisure Haberstock of School Street Yoga.
December: In this Artful Movements session, we will be inspired by Richmond Barthé’s Inner Music (c. 1956), and will explore Natarajasana (Dancer Pose).
This program is part of the Museum’s wellness initiative, Let Art Inspire, which includes a variety of programs that connect the mind, body, and art in innovative ways. Currently, there are three Let Art Inspire programs, Artful Movements on the first Saturday of each month, Artful Meditation on the second Wednesday of each month, and Artful Healing on the third Monday of each month.
While we’re closed to the greater public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ll bring Artful Movements to you in the safety and convenience of your home. The session will be appropriate for all yoga levels, families, and children. Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to stretch.
Artful Movements is available online through the Museum’s website and Facebook page.
The Waterville community can continue their yoga practice at School Street Yoga. Please visit their website for yoga class schedules.
