This week our “Kusama pumpkin kit” features a mini pumpkin to paint for Halloween. This kit is inspired by the artist Yayoi Kusama of Japan, who creates playful dot painted pumpkins that have become a very recognizable icon of modern art. Kusama has said she is enchanted by the charming and winsome form of the pumpkin and we hope that you will be too! This kit will be distributed at the Waterville Farmers’ Market from 3:00-5:00 p.m or until supplies last, and will also contain a Halloween treat!
Also be sure to stop by the Head of Falls gazebo from 4:00-5:00 p.m. for the Halloween and autumn themed green screen photo booth-weather permitting. Come in costume with your family for a fun Halloween photo!
Waterville Creates! in collaboration with community partners, including the Colby College Museum of Art, the Kennebec Montessori School, Waterville Public Schools, and the Family Violence Project has launched the very successful Art Kits for All program. This network of local non-profits powers the Art Kits for All program, generously providing volunteers and supplies to keep this popular relief program accessible to all.
In direct response to the COVID-19 public health crisis, Art Kits for All is an innovative, collaborative program designed to keep our community’s families engaged and connected to the arts. By providing free art supplies and instructions, this program offers high-quality, accessible art experiences in a completely reimagined way.
