Aqua City Actors Theatre (ACAT) presents the comedy You Can’t Take It With You by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. Performances are October 26-27 and November 2-3 at 7:30 p.m. and October 28 and November 4 at 2:00 p.m. in Studio 93 at The Center, 93 Main Street, Waterville.
At first, the Sycamores seem mad, but if they’re mad, the rest of the world is crazier. In contrast to the delightfully eccentric Sycamores are the unhappy Kirbys. Young Tony Kirby has fallen in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening. The shock sustained by the clash between families convinces Alice that marriage is out of the question, but Tony will not give up. In the end, father Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores and love triumphs. A classic comedy, You Can’t Take It With You is one of the most popular and successful plays of all time.
Co-directed by Joe Klapatch and Michael Jinbo, the play features a large cast: Doree Austin, David Germain, Daniel Giroux-Paré, Erik Hyatt, Jason Iannone, Stephanie Irwin, Ben Keene, Joe Klapatch, Margaret Matheson, Debbie Moon, Alicia Nicholls, James Paine, Nikki Porter, Henry Quintal, Wendi Richards, Andrew Smith, Jakob Sutton and Ben Turlo.
You Can’t Take It With You is the last production to be presented in Studio 93, ACAT’s home since its founding in 1998. With the assistance of Waterville Creates!, ACAT is now searching for a new home, to continue its mission to present live theatre in central Maine. These performances will be a celebration of a wonderful space, filled with memories of many past productions!
