In Chinquapin, Louisiana, Truvy’s beauty salon is where all the ladies who are “anybody” go to have their hair done. Truvy and Annelle dispense shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon, Ouiser, an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, the local social leader, M’Lynn, and the prettiest girl in town, Shelby. This play and its characters are truly touching, funny, and full of love and remarkable strength.
