Hadith Bani-Adam and Friends, Somali-American Music

Thu. Nov 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

- Free

Hosted by Colby College, Hadith Bani-Adam is a Somali refugee living in Lewiston, Maine. He is one of few younger Somalis continuing with the art of playing the oud in the traditional style of his land. While he continues to sing the older poetic songs of his native land, Hadith is also a prolific composer, whose songs deal with the heartache of war and division and the resulting fallout. In this program, he will be joined by Greg Boardman of Lewiston, playing viola, and Ness Smith-Savedoff of Portland, on hand percussion, who bring their eclectic backgrounds of traditional and progressive music to the mix.
