Community Voices: An Evening with Julia Clukey

Julia Clukey, born in Augusta, Maine, started competing in the sport of luge in 2002, after growing up as a child enjoying a variety of sports, including basketball and soccer. At the age of 12 she first tried the sport of luge, launching an interest that would lead her to multiple World Cup medals, national honors, and eventually to Olympic competition. After competing at the 2010 Winter Olympics, Julia came within 0.013 seconds of qualifying for the 2014 Games. She is currently in South Korea covering the Winter Olympics for NBC News. Julia is a motivational speaker and has also established a girls summer camp in Maine, centered on boosting self-confidence and healthy mind and body decisions. Julia holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, with a focus in Renewable Resources. Her website is clukeyluge.com.
