The author called the founder of “American” literature was also a lifelong traveler who built his career writing about other places.
Twain continually reflected with humor —and stereotypes—on the world beyond America and what it means to be “American.”
Harrington will discuss why Twain’s writing matters as we seek to understand “globalism” today. She will also introduce the companion exhibit, Mark Twain Goes Global, on view in Miller Library.
