YAM Exhibition Presented by Common Street Arts February 28 – March 31, 2018

Waterville, Maine — Common Street Arts, the programmatic arm of Waterville Creates!, is pleased to present Youth Art Month (YAM), an exhibition celebrating our community’s youngest painters, illustrators and sculptors at Common Street Arts from February 28 – March 31, 2018. This year’s Youth Art Month (YAM) theme is “building community through art” and is an opportunity to showcase the creative endeavors of area youth while highlighting the beneficial effects of artistic practice as part of the educational experience. Each week has different programs and activities taking place in the gallery designed to encourage creative expression and exploration; for a complete list of the scheduled projects and programs, visit www.commonstreetarts.org

Youth Art Month at Common Street Arts celebrates visual art created by k-12 youth in the greater Waterville community. This month-long celebration will emphasize the value of the visual arts that are often overlooked as part of a standard core curriculum. Common Street Arts is pleased to participate in this year’s theme and will present a large scale interactive map of Waterville and surrounding communities for children and families to explore and evolve. An opening reception for the artists will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 4:00 – 6:00pm.
